From hand-dyed cloth, Eleanor creates wall hangings, lampshades, upholstered room dividers, and fabric lengths for interiors. Each piece reflects a slow, considered process — where plants, time, and making come together.

'Summer Garden' Room Divider

A vintage room divider upholstered in reclaimed silk, hand-dyed and styled using homegrown plants and Tataki-Zomé (flower pounding).

Currently exhibiting at Standen House, and available to purchase via the 'More Info' button on the Standen House section of the Exhibitions page.

'Summer' Wall Hangings

These hand-dyed raw silk wall hangings are suspended from reclaimed British silk mill bobbins.

Using plants grown in the artist's garden, the silk is first steam-printed, then embellished using Tataki Zome (flower pounding).

This combination of techniques creates a beautiful contrast between crisp botanical impressions and softer, watercolour-like forms.

'Spring' Wall Hanging

This hand-dyed raw silk wall hanging is suspended from a reclaimed British silk mill bobbin.

The artist used Tataki Zome (flower pounding), where individual blooms are carefully selected and composed, then hammered directly into the cloth.

Large 'Summer' Lampshade

Coreopsis, Avocado & Cosmos Silk Scarf

The habotai silk was initially steamed using coreopsis and cosmos flowers grown and gathered from the artist’s own garden, then the artist submerged the entire scarf into an avocado dye bath to give a pink-to-orange hue for the background.

The artist used Tataki-Zomé (flower pounding), where individual blooms are carefully selected and composed, then hammered directly into the cloth.

Arashi Cotton Table Runner & Napkin Set

Cotton was folded around a pole, using the resist dye method of Arashi, meaning rain or storm in Japanese. The artist submerged the table runner and napkins, individually, into an indigo dye bath to give a rich blue colour.

Madder Root Silk Twill Scarf

The heavier weight silk twill was initially steamed using madder root, then the artist submerged the entire scarf into an avocado dye bath to give a red-to-orange hue for the background.

The edges of this scarf have been hand finished by the artist, using a traditional rolled hem.

Itajime ‘Leaf’ Indigo Silk Twill Scarf

The heavier weight silk twill was folded and clamped, using wooden blocks, to create a leaf-like pattern. The artist submerged the entire scarf into an indigo dye bath to give a rich blue colour, leaving the white from the resist dye method of Itajime.

The edges of this scarf have been hand finished by the artist, using a traditional rolled hem.
